In all likelihood 7th place won't get a Europa League place, but that team will be entered into a new competition: the UEFA conference League.
It's European football, but not as we know it!

I've never understood fans of ours who turn their noses up at European competitions, even if it's this.
It's not like we've been blessed with shit loads of European action over the years.
The best time I've had supporting this club was throughout the Intertoto run when we won it.

To be fair, I've got no idea how the Europa League works either, so it'd be harsh for me to judge it - although it sounds like a load of old bollocks which I'll be delighted to attend.

The UECL is gonna be much more prestigious than the Intertoto Cup, which was just a pre-season tournament to qualify for the UEFA Cup.
It’s like back in the day when it went:
1. European Cup
2. Cup Winner’s Cup
3. UEFA Cup
But it’ll be:
1. Champions League
2. Europa League
3. Conference League

All for this, as a previous poster said its one we should actually be challenging for!
Also hopefully it would not affect our league performance too much as easier opponents.

I'm not sure if I like the idea of us being in the 'Conference League'. It makes us sound like we're the European equivalent

Anything in Europe should be a bonus, Palermo away was immense.
I do however think that anyone who voted for Brexit shouldn't be allowed to go if we qualify.
Out means out apparently!

They just shouldn’t have called it conference, makes it sound so shitty. Statto fact, if we qualify for Europe it will be the 7th decade in a row we’ve competed in Europe at least once, bet only a few others can say the same

It would be disappointing this year after what the team have done to finish outside a European place.
If we can’t get champions league then I think conference league would be better than the europa.
More winnable plus we can play fringe players. Youngsters that don’t usually get a chance etc. Should not disrupt our premier league campaign too much.

BBC done article on it yesterday.
Apparently up to 8/9 teams could qualify for a European spot depending on who wins what competition.

The BBC article is incorrect.
We only get 7 European places maximum, regardless of who wins Europa or Champions Leagues.
